Sticks of Vilnius

Since Lithuania gained independence in 1991, Vilnius has experienced rapid growth and an influx of Western culture, transforming the cityscape with modern architecture. This photographic series highlights the impressive rise of glass skyscrapers along the right bank of the Neris River, a testament to the country's urban boom.

The series begins with the iconic "Europe" tower, completed in 2004 as a symbol of Lithuania's accession to the European Union and the Council of Europe.

While skyscrapers may create a striking contrast with the historic charm of the Old Town and surrounding residential areas, they also represent a powerful symbol of progress and ambition. This collection emphasizes the shared characteristics of these structures, focusing on their "vertical typology." Inspired by the interplay of light and glass, this series invites viewers to explore the unique skyline of Vilnius, capturing the essence of its architectural evolution.
