My second home city Vilnius started to grow very fast after Lithuania became independant in 1991 and started to let in western culture. A sign of fast grow in small countries are growing buildings. The right side of Neris river became a 'boom' of glass skyscrapers.
The first skyscraper is circled plan tower 'Europe', built in 2004 as a symbol of becoming a member of the European Union, the Council of Europe.
Skyscrapers create unfriendly scale of natural environment in the city but create a massive symbol of power. What do have skyscrapers in common? The 'vertical typology'. This serie appeared after watching light connection with glass buildings. The idea was to collect skyscrapers (stick) of Vilnius into one serie.
Find more of these in page of Projects.
